Educators implement the Victorian Early YearsLearning Framework (VEYLF) to ensure each child’s interests, abilities, andstrengths are supported and extended.
Throughout the year, children engage inlearning experiences guided by their curiosities, encouraging growth across arange of developmental areas. Educators foster independence and communicationskills through interest based, intentional teaching and play-basedopportunities, supporting children as they socialise, make decisions, and solveproblems with peers.
Children enjoy the freedom of an indoor/outdoorlearning environment each day (weather permitting), which allows them toexplore, create, and strengthen both fine and gross motor skills in meaningfulways.

We take a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse and uphold our responsibility to protect children from harm in line with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

We place the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, the safety of children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and the safety and inclusion of children with additional needs at the centre of our practices.

To create and maintain a child safeenvironment, we will:
Embed the 11 Victorian Child Safe Standards into our everyday practice.
Actively uphold the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, ensuring our policies, procedures, and culture are consistent with the national model.
Promote child empowerment and participation, supporting children to express their views, raise concerns, and be part of decisions that affect them.
Maintain a Child Safe Code of Conduct that applies to all staff, educators, volunteers, students, and visitors.
• Provide ongoing training and support so our team understands their obligations to protect children.
Use robust recruitment, screening, and supervision practices to ensure child safety is prioritised at all times.
Respond promptly and appropriately to any concerns, disclosures, or allegations of child abuse or harm.
Engage families and communities in open communication to build a strong, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Commit to continuous improvement, regularly reviewing and updating our child safe policies and practices to remain current with legislation, research, and community expectations.
By aligning with both the Victorian Child Safe Standards and the National Principles, we ensure that Kids Own Early Childhood Learning Centre is a place where every child can learn, grow, and thrive in safety and confidence.
