SAY HELLO!
Welcome to Kids Own Early Childhood Learning Centre
We would like to acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Island people
as the traditional custodians of this country and their connection
to the land, water and community in which we live.
At Kids Own ECLC we value early childhood education as the
foundation for lifelong learning. We believe that each child is a
unique individual and should be viewed, respected and treated as
such.
As the well being of each child is paramount, we strive to provide
holistic support of the child’s exclusive requirements and
interests in a nurturing, familiar environment that fosters the
child’s development across all developmental domains. Children’s
natural curiosity is nurtured and stimulated in an environment
that owes much to the Reggio Emilia approach to learning where the
children are encouraged to make discoveries, develop theories,
imagine, explore and interpret.
Our unique, enquiry-based approach embraces the many languages of
childhood and encourages children to become enthusiastic
participants and communicators, actively contributing to their own
learning.
Our values and ethos are bound by a passion to provide young minds
with the ability, means and skills to enable and sustain future
growth and development. Our philosophy and values can be summed up
as the following:
Children are seen as; people, competent, confident learners,
friends and teachers who will learn through play and learn in the
moment.
We believe every child has the right to make choices in regards to
their learning.
We believe every child should feel a strong
sense of well-being.
We believe that the environment should
reflect our love of nature and our views on sustainability.
We
believe that the environment is the 'third teacher' and
therefore it is essential that our physical environment invites
and inspires engagement and exploration.
We believe in
building relationships with families and the greater community.
Encouraging a high degree of involvement and participation as
families are the foundation in children’s growth and
development.
We believe the early years are the foundation
years and by providing meaningful learning experiences we can
cultivate a love of learning.
We believe that learning is
ongoing and we constantly seek to develop our own knowledge and
thereby offer richer experiences to the children in our care.
