Kids Own Early Childhood Learning Centre

3 Day Guarantee starts 5 January.

Families can get at least 72 hours of subsidised care each fortnight.

How can the 3 Day Guarantee support
a range of families?

1. Families receiving income support

If your family receives JobKeeper or similar income support, you may have previously only been entitled to 36 subsidised childcare hours per fortnight. With the updated 3 Day Guarantee starting in January 2026, your family will now have access to 72 subsidised hours per fortnight, equal to 3 days of care each week.

2. Families studying part-time

If you are a parent caring for young children while completing part-time study, you may not have met the activity test requirements for subsidised childcare in the past. Under the CCS 3 Day Guarantee, you may now qualify for 3 days of subsidised childcare each week, creating more space and support to focus on your studies.

3. Families on parental leave

Parents on parental leave often previously received only minimal subsidised childcare hours. Under the 3 Day Guarantee, eligible families will now receive up to 3 days of subsidised care per week, helping support parents during this transition period.

4. Families with one stay-at-home parent

If your household includes one full-time working parent and one stay-at-home parent, you may have been unable to meet the CCS activity test, limiting your childcare subsidy. Beginning January 2026, eligible families in this situation will be entitled to 3 days of subsidised childcare per week under the 3 Day Guarantee.

5. Families with casual or unpredictable work

If your family depends on casual employment and your weekly hours often change, meeting the activity test may have been challenging. The 3 Day Guarantee now provides eligible families with a consistent minimum of 3 days of subsidised childcare each week, giving more stability despite fluctuating work patterns.

6. Families with one full-time and one very part-time worker

If one parent works full-time and the other works fewer than 4 hours per week, your previous entitlement may have been limited to 36 subsidised hours per fortnight. Under the new 3 Day Guarantee, this increases to 72 hours per fortnight — equivalent to 3 days of childcare each week — offering greater support for your family’s needs.

Child Care Subsidy – How it works

Child Care Subsidy Explained

We understand that finding quality early childhood education and care is an important decision for your family. Kids Own team are here to assist you in making it more affordable through the Australian Government’s Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

What is the Child Care Subsidy?

The Child Care Subsidy is a government program designed to assist families with the cost of child care. It reduces your out-of-pocket expenses, making high-quality care more accessible for your child. The amount of subsidy you’re eligible for depends on several factors, including your family’s income, the number of children in care, the type of care you choose, and your activity level.

How Does it Work?

Income-Based Subsidy: The subsidy percentage you receive is determined by your family’s combined annual income. The lower your income, the higher your subsidy.

Hours of Subsidy: The number of subsidised hours you receive is based on the amount of approved activity you and your partner do, such as work, study, or volunteering. The more hours of activity, the more hours of subsidised care you may be eligible for.

Child Care Provider: The subsidy is paid directly to us as your approved child care provider, we then pass the savings on to you in the form of reduced fees.

Here’s a complete guide of how the child care subsidy works.

How to Apply

Applying for the Child Care Subsidy is straightforward:

Create a myGov account if you don’t already have one, and link it to Centrelink.
Complete the online CCS assessment through your Centrelink account on myGov.
Provide the necessary information, including your family’s income estimate and your activity details.
Once approved, notify us, and we’ll handle the rest, ensuring your subsidy is applied to your fees.

How the subsidy works

The main components of the new CCS are based on activity, family income, and type of childcare service and will affect the percentage you are eligible to receive.
The activity test determines how many hours of childcare per fortnight you will receive a subsidy for. Both parents are required to work, study, or volunteer for a minimum of 8 hours per fortnight. Your family’s
combined income will calculate the CCS percentage you’re entitled to. It’s based on a grading system, with more financial support available to lower-income families.

Payment of fees

It is our policy that family’s weekly fees must be one week in advance and paid at the beginning of each week (this includes the current week plus one). The parent must then continue to pay the weekly fee in advance in order to maintain a credit balance equivalent to one week of fee.

The fees can be made at the center using the eftpos facility or deposited into the Kids Own bank account upon request by families.

If you are planning holidays, a Holiday Discount book is available from the office. This book must be filled out two weeks prior to the holiday absence to receive discount off your fees for up to four weeks  (pro-rata to the number of days your child attends) each financial year.

All children’s booked days, including public holidays and absent days must be paid to retain your child’s place. Late fees are charged if children remain in the centre after closing times.
